It was the 76-year-old actor himself who detailed what happened so that the doctors decided not to perform the replacement of said organ.

Why was Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo’s lung transplant canceled?

Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo revealed that the doctors canceled the important procedure while he was already in the operating room.

“I was about to receive it, but they discovered a problem that I had in my liver, that is, in my blood, and they had to stop everything,” he said in statements presented on the YouTube channel ‘delarosatv’ on June 18.

“(The specialists said): ‘Stop the machines, there is a danger there, if we do the transplant we could cause tremendous anemia and he could die,’” he said.

Regarding the condition that prevented the intervention, the comedian pointed out that the specialists “what they have done is cure me.”

“It was a cell mutation that caused (it) in me, years ago, when I had chemotherapy,” he explained.

Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo has “hope” that he will have the transplant

Focused on being in optimal condition, Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo acknowledged that he has faith that they will soon be able to perform the operation.

“There I go again with the doctors (so that) they can do all the tests again and, if I’m fine, go ahead,” he explained.

He specified that, if he passes the tests, his name will be placed on the list of applicants until lungs that match his “size” appear.

“I am at this stage trying to get myself together perfectly and (with) the hope that they can do this transplant, and meanwhile here they have me bothering as always,” he said optimistically.
