After learning the unfortunate news that the bus belonging to the gang of Elder Dayán Díaz, son of the renowned vallenato singer Diomedes Díaz, suffered a serious accident at the Los Haticos toll, located in the municipality of San Juan del Cesar, south of La Guajira. Thousands of followers of ‘El Cacicque de la Junta’ have once again aired speculation about the alleged curse that would have fallen on the family of the vallenato singer after he broke a promise to the Virgin of Carmen

It should be noted that the recent incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 22, when the vehicle was heading towards Paraguachón, on the border with Venezuela, with the purpose of picking up the musicians who are on tour in that country. Only the driver was on board the bus, who was injured in the accident and the vehicle was completely destroyed.

Traffic accidents of the family of Diomedes Díaz would be related to a promise with the Virgin of Carmen

Diomedes Díaz, one of the vallenato singers most admired and loved by millions of Colombians, was known as the ‘Cacique of the Junta’ due to his prominence in the musical genre. His artistic life was constantly under media scrutiny, which led him to be a frequent topic in the media, both for criticism and praise.

However, his fame also brought intense attention to his personal life, where his devotion to Virgen del Carmen stood out among her followers. According to some of them, the misfortune that impacted Diomedes’ family could be related to an unfulfilled promise that the singer made to the Virgin. This theory suggests that tragic events, such as the fatal accidents involving his sons Martín Elías in 2017 and Moisés in 2020, could be seen as consequences of said non-compliance.

The link with the Virgin of Carmen, considered the patron saint of drivers, adds a religious nuance to the interpretation of these tragic events. The perception of an alleged ‘curse’ that affects the Díaz family has gained strength in the popular imagination, especially with the pattern highlighted by some followers around the number 14, which seems to recur in significant and painful moments for the family.

Furthermore, dates such as September 14, 2007, with the death of Rafael María Díaz, Diomedes’ father, and the birth of Martín Elías Junior on November 14 of the same year, illustrate a cycle marked by life and loss within the family. This context has contributed to the construction of a complex narrative that intertwines elements of faith, family tragedy and numerical coincidences in the life of one of the most influential icons of vallenato.
