Glenn Hughes remembers the “boys’ night” Ritchie Blackmore took him to when he joined Deep Purple: “We didn’t sleep”

The trajectory of a rock legend like Glenn Hugheswho has been a protagonist in bands like Deep Purple either Black Sabbath and more recently in supergroups such as Black Country Communion either The Dead Daisies In addition to her solo career, she hides countless anecdotes, and recently she has been a “boys night” with Ritchie Blackmore the one that has come to light.

During a recent interview with Guitar Interactive Magazineasked directly about his relationship with the six-string genius with whom he met in the ranks of Deep Purple, Hughes recalled how he welcomed him to the band and how his character changed if they were alone or there were more people around: “It was difficult. When I joined the band, he flew me to Hamburg for a “boys’ night out” over a weekend. We didn’t sleep for two days, drinking coffee and alcohol. We had a great time together. We had a good time being alone with him. As soon as I was around other guys, it wasn’t personal anymore. He was difficult but very smart, very smart, but a difficult person to get to know and to play with.”
