They investigate the death of a Chilean “fake doctor”: he killed his wife and then committed suicide in a private clinic in Bolivia

Everything seemed to be a routine procedure. The Chilean Christian Emilio Gosenwho was arrested last April in Bolivia for improperly practicing the profession of doctorwas transferred from Palmasola prison to a private clinic in the city of Santa Cruz.

The transfer was made because he had a special permit to undergo a hemodialysis procedurebecause due to problems with his kidney he had to undergo treatment to filter toxins and water from his blood.

But although the Chilean citizen arrived at the hospital being guarded by police personnel, as he was in preventive detention, a tragic event occurred for a moment.

According to preliminary information from the AP agency, Christian Gosen was accompanied by his wife, Bathsheba Elena Choque, to a bathroom in the clinic..

At that location a firearm was used and a couple of shots were heard. Everything remained silent for the couple.

One gun, two deaths

The Bolivian police are investigating what happened. The initial report states that Bathsheba Choque received the first shot, so it is presumed that the false doctor later took his own life.

Hence, the Santa Cruz police estimate that: “It would be a homicide and a suicide.”

Christian Gosen had been detained since April 25 as he posed as a gastroenterologist in the city of Santa Cruz. There were also allegations that he posed as a publicist and even a lawyer and psychiatrist.

As a result of his actions, more than 50 people reported him for improper exercise of the profession and attack on public health.

As a result of this situation, the court had determined his preventive detention for 60 days, so the fake doctor was awaiting his judicial procedure. Furthermore, in parallel, the Prosecutor’s Office was reviewing a case in which he was accused and for which he was suspected of manslaughter.

For now, the police rule out that the weapon used belonged to one of the police officers who were part of the transfer procedure to the private clinic.

Meanwhile, the families who denounced the fake doctor continue to demand justice, requesting that the collaborators who assisted Gosen in the surgical procedures that affected them be investigated.

The Minsal has a telephone number available to citizens in case they have questions or concerns about suicidal actions or intentions, both their own or that of a loved one.
