Different viruses are circulating in Medellín that are causing respiratory diseases. In the city there are 36,000 influenza vaccines, 10,000 for adults and 26,000 for children. This is a respiratory disease that can cause anything from fever to pneumonia.

“That is why it is important to prevent it with vaccination or also with other non-pharmacological measures that we recently learned in covid and it is rigorous hand hygiene, washing the back, palms, between the fingers, the nails,” explained Rita Almanza, epidemiology leader of the Health Secretariat of Medellín.

Influenza vaccination is available free of charge for children from zero to 23 months, pregnant women, older adults, and people with comorbidities.

Medellín has more than 70 spaces available for influenza vaccination, including all points of the Metrosalud network and public and private IPS.
