the Cardioinfantil Foundation – La Cardio reported on the death of Dr. Camilo Cabrera Polanía, founder, director emeritus and member of the Superior Council of the institution.

The event occurred today, May 14, in the city of Bogotá and Dr. Cabrera died at the age of 91.

Without a doubt He leaves an enormous legacy in the institution and in cardiovascular surgery in the country. He was born in Yaguará (Huila) on November 3, 1932 and stood out from an early age for his passion and dedication to medicine.

After finishing his studies in medicine at the National University, He completed his fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. In 1973, he returned to the country along with his brother Reinaldo Cabrera and they created the Cardioinfantil Foundation.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Camilo. His dedication and humanity have been a beacon for us all. We will continue his work with the same commitment and passion that he taught us,” said Dr. Juan Gabriel Cendales, executive director of the Cardioinfantil-LaCardio Foundation.
