While Ozzy Osbourne basks in the glow of being selected for a second addition to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fameis lending its support to another long-overlooked act.
“Motorhead has to be incorporated”, he tells Rolling Stone. “They should definitely be inside”. Osbourne then proceeded to praise the late Motorhead frontman: “In my opinion, Lemmy Kilmister was the best metalhead. He lived blues, methamphetamine and malt beers. And he was a dear friend of mine. I really miss not having Lemmy around”, Osbourne said.
““What I liked about Lemmy is that he didn’t give a damn who you were.”he added. “If you asked him a question, he would tell you what he thought. If you asked her what she thought of a song, she’d say, “It’s shit.” And he would tell you. And he says, ‘If you don’t like my answer, then don’t ask me the question.'” Motorhead has been eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame since 2003. Despite this, the band has only been nominated once, in 2020, five years after Kilmister’s death.
Ozzy Osbourne calls Foreigner a ‘cover band’
Osbourne also weighed in on some of this year’s other inductees. He said that he was happy to see that Foreigner was elected, insisting that “they should have arrived years ago”. Still, Osbourne was not so positive about the band’s current lineup.
“Foreigner now, that’s not Foreigner”, argued Osbourne, alluding to a formation made up of musicians who came together in the 2000s. “It’s like a cover band.” Osbourne also said that Cher “I should have entered years ago,” expressed his approval for the election of Mary J. Blige and suggested that Mariah Careywho was nominated but not selected this year deserved to enter.
