On the afternoon of this Wednesday, May 22, 2024, an explosion occurred in a powder store, located in the municipality of Soacha. The emergency was recorded in several videos, which were shared by residents of the sector. There you can see moments of anguish among the neighbors near the headquarters of Pirotécnicos El Vaquero, where the incident occurred. The powder dump, located near a Police Command in Soacha, forced the facilities to be evacuated for safety.

The videos shared on social networks show the explosions of pyrotechnics and white smoke, which rises into the sky. In the midst of this situation, debris from fireworks has been reported falling in adjacent areas, increasing concern among the local population.

So far, the balance of those affected or structural damage is unknown. However, the area already has the presence of other relief agencies, including ambulances, to deal with any eventuality.
Likewise, the Bogotá Fire Department mentioned that the Puente Aranda, Kennedy and Central stations, with support from the Hazardous Materials Team, are providing support in the municipality of Soacha to be able to extinguish the fire.
Given the situation, the mayor of Soacha referred to the issue through his account to the Share neighborhood. At this moment, all authorities are responding to the emergency. “We will be reporting the measures and the effects of this fact.”
