This May 4, Star Wars Day, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, demonstrated his passion for the film saga, with a video published on social networks, along with Hayden Christensen.

In the clip, he is seen sitting at his desk while receiving a video call from the actor who played Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader), wishing him a “Happy May 4th,” a date on which the popular science fiction saga is celebrated.

In the video, Trudeau responds enthusiastically and mentions that he also celebrates the date. Then, he reveals that he has encouraged his children to start watching the saga films. When he is asked about his plans, he replies that he is working and must leave soon.

After the call, Justin Trudeau grabs a briefcase and opens it, revealing a lightsaber and some papers. He picks up his things and leaves his office. The video concludes with a circle cut, a distinctive element of the Star Wars saga.

Last Friday, Mark Hamill, known for his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, visited the White House and greeted President Joe Biden, affectionately nicknamed him ‘Joe-B-Wan Kenobi’, in reference to Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

After their meeting in the Oval Office, Hamill surprised everyone by appearing in the press room. “Who had ‘Mark Hamill directs the press conference’ in their bingo?” the actor joked, wearing aviator-style sunglasses that, according to him, Biden had given him.

When journalists asked him about his meeting with Joe Biden, Hamill stressed that he had called him ‘Mr. President’, but in a friendly manner, Biden replied: “You can call me Joe.”

Why is Star Wars Day celebrated?

The re-release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace coincides with the celebration of Star Wars Day, which was created by fans to honor George Lucas’ iconic franchise.

This is following a news story published in the London Evening News, which reported an article congratulating Margaret Thatcher for taking over as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom: “May the 4th Be With You, Maggie )”.

On the occasion of the film’s 25th anniversary, Episode I returns to the big screen. The initiative began on May 1 in Mexico, to continue the next day in several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. This May 4, it was re-released in Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay.
