«I don’t believe in GPS at all. It may be a saying, but it is not real. “There are much more internal things, much more painful,” says journalist Manuel González about the separation of Ivette Vergara and Fernando Solabarrieta after three decades, three children, many crises and at least two rehabilitation processes for the 53-year-old sports commentator.
In Zona de Estrellas they talked about alcoholism, Fernando’s alleged infidelities and a saying by Luis Sandoval, another entertainment reporter, who stated: «Ivette supposedly once received information that Solabarrieta was going to get together with a girl. Then Ivette would have set the GPS, she would have arrived at the place and made a scandal of proportions.
Manu González continued saying in Zona: «I position myself on Ivette’s side, because when a person is sick, they have to be aware of it and then they have to take sufficient measures to. When you don’t want to, when suddenly everything overtakes you, when things happen in your life, you are not only falling, you are causing an environment to fall.”
Hugo Valencia: “The issue of alcoholism in our country, which unfortunately affects many people, does not have to go hand in hand with infidelity. Apparently there is an unresolved problem regarding Solabarrieta disease. But for a long time, every few months or years, we have received rumors that Fernando had been unfaithful to Ivette.
“In the last one last year, when I got this story from the gym, I asked him about this alleged infidelity and a breakup with Ivette, he told me no. Today we find out that there was a break in October 2023, confessed by himself.
«Every time I asked him about infidelity, he denied it to me. But today there are several reports that he is living the crazy life, not only in excess, but also with women, and that this would be one of the reasons why he broke up with Ivette.
Mario Velasco: “Alcohol also disinhibits you. Although it does not justify being unfaithful, one has a much better chance of committing infidelity with a couple of pompadours.”

Velasco: “Manu, do you feel that it is a definitive break?”
Gonzalez: “This is not from now. There is no GPS. There is no situation. There is a return from Mexico (where Solabarrieta was admitted to rehabilitation, in 2023), there is a return to work and social life. There is a turning point with respect to the last festival they hosted, in which on the last day his son took the stage. From there, certain behaviors began that shed certain light on what could happen.”
Velasco: “What happened at that festival?”
Gonzalez: “There were times when Fernando went down, went up, was with some people. And, as in all festivals, there is always a bar, there is always a bar, to have a little something. A person has to be aware of what happens to you, and then have to make choices. The family can help you, but if you don’t decide to be well and make an effort, these types of things can happen.”
