You can now enjoy one of the longest movies in history on Amazon Prime

It is often said that time in cinema is relative, since a film can be very long while being very short or vice versa. Well, this film belongs to the second group, but anyone who wants to see it better prepare and calculate well, because ‘Novecento’ lasts a whopping 317 minutes.

Yes that’s how it is. That It’s just over five hours.and it is not an experimental film or a feature film divided into several parts, but rather a narrative film from beginning to end.

What ‘Novecento’ is about, a film with legends like Robert de Niro and Ennio Morricone

‘Novecento’tape of the year 1976 directed by Bernardo Bertolucci and starring Robert De Niro and Gerard Depardieutells the story of Italy between 1901 and [1945 through the friendship of two boys born on a farm in northern Italy, on the same day. Each of them belongs to different social strata, since one is the grandson of a landowner, while another is the son of a peasant. Despite these differences, both boys will become friends and the viewer will witness how that friendship evolves into a rivalry over the years, all while the social changes that Italy experiences occur in subsequent decades.

As expected, a film of this magnitude did not perform very well at the box office and was a failure despite the many reissues it had to shorten it and make it more commercial. In any case, it remains a visual spectacle thanks to the fact that the photography is taken by the legendary Vittorio Storaro; the music is from the mythical Ennio Morricone. Surprisingly, despite its long duration, it never feels long.
