The former star of Girls Next Door, Holly Madisonand his companion Bridget Marquardt have responded firmly to the cease and desist letter sent by the lawyers of Crystal Hefnerwidow of the late Playboy mogul, Hugh Hefner. The dispute broke out after an episode of the “Girls Next Level” podcast in which defamatory comments were allegedly made about Crystal.
“I got some toilet paper,” Madison said mockingly in an interview published by TMZ on Friday, June 14. “This cease and desist came to us, and it was in reference to the episode we did with Marston Hefner, maybe a month or two ago. “It was crazy,” said the former bunny.
Hefner’s ex-wife argues that in the podcast on May 13, it was suggested that she was “drugging” the mogul in the last years of his life. However, Madison denied that she alluded to it in the episode.
“If I remember correctly on the podcast, Marston said he was ‘a little disturbed by the amount of medication his father was on,’ but he said ‘when you’re that rich and powerful there’s always going to be someone who’ll prescribe that to you,'” Holly explained.
The former reality star clarified that she does not believe the young man’s comments were referring to Crystal. “I took that to mean that he felt that, when you have that kind of power, there will always be a doctor somewhere who maybe will give you a little more if you want it,” he said.
Madison lashed out at what she considers an intimidation tactic. “There is something I like to call ‘legal bullying’, when people who think they are richer than everyone else pay their lawyers to send ‘cease and desists’ to people to shut them up. You are trying to intimidate someone into silence,” she stated. “It won’t intimidate me.”
Bridget Marquardt, who also received the same letter, supported his partner. “It’s crazy because there are accusations in the cease and desist that we said things that were never said,” she said.
Both assured that they were “extremely careful” when talking about Crystal on the podcast and that their legal department, along with that of the Hefner heir, approved the episode before it aired. “We were obnoxiously careful. “We are not stupid… we are not going to say anything on the podcast that would be grounds for a lawsuit,” Holly argued in the interview.
On the other hand, in a statement to TMZ On Tuesday, June 11, the lawyer for Crystal Hefner confirmed the sending of the letter and defended its content. “Ms. Hefner will not allow her name and reputation to be tarnished by opportunists. “We stand by the contents of the letter and will enforce Ms. Hefner’s rights to the fullest extent,” the attorney said.
The tabloid had access to the letter, which argued the following about the alleged accusation of overmedication: “Nothing could be further from the truth. As we understand, Ms. Hefner remained steadfast in her commitment to Mr. Hefner during his final days, ensuring that he was cared for and received the best medical care available…”
A day earlier, Madison had criticized the legal response of Hugh Hefner’s former consort on social media. “Imagine running a freedom of expression foundation and then sending a cease and desist letter to someone for speaking out,” she said ironically in her X account.
In May, Crystal Hefner spoke with Us Weekly on the occasion of the publication of his book Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself and accused Holly and Bridget of trying to sabotage his life. Regarding the comments they made on her podcast, the 38-year-old model alluded to the fact that they “just want attention.”
