While Inside Out 2 (Inside Out 2) of Pixar continues to sweep the global box office, the movie theater is preparing to receive a new batch of film premieres. The month of June had the most diverse proposals and for its last week the return of Russell Crowe to the horror genre with Exorcismas well as the new action comedy from Glen Powell and Adria Arjona. Exorcism, the new thing from Russell Crowe

After several years in suspense, this week it finally hits theaters Exorcism (The Exorcism), a new genre film starring Oscar winner, Russell Crowe. Directed by Joshua John Millerscreenwriter of The Final Girls (2015), this film with meta-cinema elements follows Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to become destabilized while filming a supernatural horror film. Director Richard Linklatermainly known for the trilogy of Before dawn and Boyhoodreturns to the big screen with Accomplices to deception (hit man). This action comedy starring Glen Powell and Adria Arjona immerses us in the life of Gary Johnson, an agent recruited for an undercover mission in which he must pose as a hitman and catch high-profile criminals.

As he delves into a dangerous double life, Gary faces moral dilemmas and unexpected dangers, all while doing his best to maintain a façade of normality in his daily life. However, everything takes on a new dimension when he decides to help a woman who is trying to escape from her violent partner.

This feature film, which was presented at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, is inspired by a true story published in 2021 by Skip Hollandsworth in Texas Monthly and featured a script co-written by Linklater and his own Powell.

‘Club Zero’, by Jessica Hausner (Karma Films)

Club Zero (Club Zero), directed by Jessica Hausner, immerses us in the life of a group of students from an elite school who enroll in a special subject to improve their relationship with food. Professor Novak, played by Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), promises to help you achieve a healthy balance. However, his intentions are much darker: Novak introduces his students to a sect based on conscious eating, which soon leads to a dangerous practice of extreme fasting. As students delve into this doctrine, they face a spiral of manipulation and control, putting not only their physical health at risk, but also their mental well-being.

The feature film Hausner has generated controversy since its presentation at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, dividing opinions for its bold treatment of sensitive topics such as eating disorders and psychological manipulation. The filmmaker, known for her provocative style and her incisive criticism of contemporary society, offers a film that makes the viewer uncomfortable and seeks to make the viewer reflect.
