Literature with Pride. Meeting with Javier Ruescas and Àfrica Alonso

Within the framework of the celebrations of International Pride Daywe present in our auditorium a meeting between Javier Ruescasauthor of What happened (Cross Books) and Africa Alonsoauthor of a timid light (Seix Barral), who have decided to make visible situations of discrimination and violence towards LGBT people through their literature. We will also be accompanied by the writer, actor and teacher, Luis Maurato energize the dialogue.

In What happenedRuescas addresses the impotence, rage and helplessness suffered as a result of a homophobic incident that he experienced firsthand. Meanwhile, Alonso, in a timid lighttakes us to Spain under Franco to tell us a love story between two women in times of fear and oppression.

From different perspectives, one historical and one current, we find two literary voices and two stories, based on real events, which arise from the need to claim the rights and visibility of the LGBTIQ+ community, and remind society why we must not forget history and much less go back.

To attend, you can reserve your free ticket in this post. Access will be allowed until capacity is reached..

This event will have hearing accessibility measures (magnetic induction loop, LSE and headphone sound amplification). The meeting can be followed in streaming openly on this website and in networks with the hashtag #LiteratureWithPride.
