The Minister of Mining of the Aysén Region, Juan Vásquez Alarcón, valued the role that the Chacabuco Port Company (Emporcha) plays today in promoting regional mining activity and projecting its future importance thanks to new logistics projects that the company currently has in folder.

The authority noted that “we want to highlight the crucial role of Emporcha in the town of Chacabuco as a key actor to promote mining activity in the Aysén Region, where last year we were able to observe the importance of the proper functioning of its dock in the logistics chain. mining”.

According to Vásquez, “Emporcha has stood out for its commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure to meet the needs of regional mining operations,” exemplifying this with the four mining shipments that were made during 2023 from the port area, totaling 54 thousand tons of exports. , operated by Sociedad Minera Pacífico.

“These shipments reflect the confidence there is in the port services provided by Emporcha and in its ability to manage large volumes of cargo efficiently and safely,” said the seremi, adding that the state port company, hand in hand with its new logistics initiatives, It will contribute “significantly to the economic and social development of the region,” and also to strengthen “the competitiveness of our mining industry at a national and international level.”

For his part, the Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, Felipe Rojas Pizarro, agreed that “the function that Emporcha performs is extremely relevant when we also talk about mining,” considering that both the port and mining areas “must create synergy to empower themselves and broaden their horizons (…) giving a look with a productive perspective to joint work between both, which will generate important economic benefits for the region and its inhabitants.”

Rojas complemented by pointing out that the regional logistics infrastructure, which Emporcha hopes to continue consolidating from several initiatives in the process of being implemented, is a “strategic element for the development of productive activities in the region, including mining, fishing, forestry and tourism.” .
