In recent hours, a confrontation was recorded in the rural area of Algeria, Cauca, between the military forces and members of the FARC dissident, known as the Second Marquetalia. The operation, which took place in the early hours of today, left a preliminary balance of five dissidents deadalthough it is estimated that there could be more bodies to recover.
During the development of the operation, A minor who had been forcibly recruited by this armed group was injured. Thanks to the quick intervention of military combat nurses, the minor received first aid and was evacuated in an Air Force medical helicopter to receive specialized medical care.
This operation joins a series of actions undertaken by the authorities to dismantle the Second Marquetalia and other FARC dissidents that operate in different regions of the country.. In previous operations, several members of these criminal structures have been captured, as well as the dismantling of commissions and fronts related to illicit activities such as forced recruitment, extortion and violent actions against the civilian population and the public force.
The offensive against the Second Marquetalia continues in development, and it is expected that in the next few hours more details about the result and implications of this operation in the Cauca region will be revealed.
