The festive arts in the Villa Roja

The forty-sixth edition of the Culture Week in Artemisa once again reminds us of some traditions of the Villa Roja, among them the peasant guateques, one of the activities carried out during this weekend, in addition to the presentation of professional and amateur artists in the Liberty Park.

Barbarita Martínez, communicator from the Municipal Directorate of Culture, told the artemiseño that the festivities began on Saturday the 20th with a parade along the boulevard, starring the children’s talent from the Delfín Fleitas cultural house, along with instructors from the José Martí brigade.

“We also had the guatecazo, which brought together several exponents of the music of our fields such as Yosvany León, Roberto del Valle, among other fans of the Mexican genre, from various municipalities and towns.”

At night the Control JL group animated the fun from the Parque Libertad roundabout. Another attraction was undoubtedly the presentation of Beatriz Márquez, 2015 National Music Prize winner, at the Café Parque Central Album, in her capacity as a guest at the Diálogos a viva vocal group, hosted by the journalist and literary critic Fernando Rodríguez Sosa.

The fixed space, in tribute to the six decades of the Musical Recordings and Editions Company, led to the exchange with those present of the journalist Jaime Masó Torres about the volume of his authorship Very musical, Beatriz Márquez, a journey of memoriesa compendium of the singer and songwriter’s extensive and fruitful career.

For the little ones, there have been shows by the clown Piruleto and the ArTeatro community action, in addition to the magician Brayan’s project, which includes children in the fascinating world of circus arts.

The Juárez cinema-theater did not escape the hubbub. The music bands from the main municipality, San Antonio de los Baños and Guanajay, gathered on its stage for the Rumba Festival.

According to the Culture communicator, the performance of the Fusion and Image project, belonging to the instructor Elisa Gutiérrez, is expected at night, in addition to the performances of the winners in the recent Leandra Virginia Viera contest.

The next 25th will be Traditions Day, in honor of Saint Mark the Evangelist, patron of Artemis. Craft fairs, downloads, exhibitions and the usual mass in the local church will characterize this day. The celebrations will continue until April 27, in which art and history join hands, in favor of memory.
