In dialogue with La W, the commander of the Montería Metropolitan Police, colonel Carlos Garcia, referred to the attacks that have been registered against a chain of pharmacies in nine of the 30 municipalities of Córdoba. These criminal actions have been attributed to the substructure ‘Javier Yepes Cantero’ of the Gulf Clan that commits crimes in this section of the country.

“The facts correspond to some new modalities presented by the Clan del Golfo following results obtained in the first quarter, when its financial leader (alias ‘Alejandra’) was captured. On this occasion, at the security council she informed the authorities about the arrival alias ‘Naranjo’, who is the driving force behind the extortion and they have always had an influence on the companies that provide public services. and, in this case, the pharmacy union,” said the uniformed man.

In context in The W:

The authorities have reinforced security at the La Economía pharmacy chain, where these firearm attacks have occurred. Likewise, they announced that other commercial establishments will also have these preventive measures.

Security measures will be extended to medium and large commercial establishments, with prevention measures and creating a culture of reporting, because many of the difficulties encountered in investigations are due to lack of timely information,” the uniformed officer added.

It is worth remembering that the attacks occurred during the morning and afternoon of April 22 in the municipalities of Cereté, Ciénaga de Oro, Lorica, Montería, Montelíbano, San Carlos, San Pelayo, Sahagún and Tierralta, respectively. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
