This is how the mayor of this municipality cataloged it, the fair allowed us to show that San José de las Hermosas is much more than a red zone and important announcements were made in social investment.

It was a day dedicated to strengthening the security and social development of this rural area that was long plagued by armed conflict. Members of the Organization of American States, the United Nations, the ombudsman’s office, secretaries were present. of departmental and municipal governments, indigenous organizations and inhabitants of this important region.

From there, the Governor of Tolima announced a significant investment for a sports center, a covered coliseum on the San José sidewalk and the opening of the Chispiadero road, San José, Roncesvalles.

“The people of the canyon have been dreaming for a long time about this road that ostensibly closes the distance between San José and Chaparral, if we manage to open the Chispiadero, Salado, San José and then Roncesvalles roads, we will have a very important road ring and represents integration regional,” said Helvert González Mora, Mayor of Chaparral.

The president highlighted that the Las Hermosas community through activities has managed to raise a large amount of money to open the road “the community has a common fund of 140 million pesos, the municipality will contribute 200 million, Isagen 90 million, Cointrasur 50 million and the Government 300 million in fuel, that is, there are almost 800 million pesos and that allows us to think about strongly starting the opening of the road.”

He emphasized that Las Hermosas Canyon is much more than an area stigmatized by the conflict, “it is a prosperous region, historically it has been one of conflict, of presence of the FARC, but today they are already reinserted and working there with productive projects, that is It is important to highlight that that page is closing, today people have a different vision of development, of work, of organization. That encourages us a lot, it fills us with hope because we can really advance in the transformation of the territory,” said González Mora.

For her part, Adriana Magaly Matiz, Governor of Tolima, stated that security has two arms: territorial control with the effective presence of public forces and social investment in infrastructure and agricultural development.

“Today we are here with our main purpose: to work on security and development. We need international organizations to know what we do here and support our farmers with projects that improve their quality of life,” said the governor.
