The next month of the year will begin with a new increase in the tax on liquid fuels, which will be transferred to the pumps at the service stations of the different oil companies. Thus, the liter of super gasoline will increase $61.82 on current values and on diesel $42.07, that is, an increase of 12% and 7.5% respectively. So far this year, fuels have already accumulated a rise in 106% in less than four months.
In this way, in May the fourth and final update of taxes that had been postponed since July 2021 during the previous administration will be applied. This was established by the Ministry of Energy through decree 107. So far in 2024, the prices of gasoline and diesel have accumulated an average increase of 51.3%.
For his part, the manager of the Confederation of Marketing and Hydrocarbons and Related Entities (CECHA), William Lego indicated that still “it’s early” estimate the rise in fuels, because oil companies must analyze other variables, such as 2% monthly devaluation applied by the Central Bank and the international price of Brent (US$88.12/barrel)whose value fluctuates due to international conflicts, which could lead to a greater increase at the supplier.
How much will a liter of super and premium cost in May?
With the new update in fuel taxes planned by the Executive, the liter of gasoline would rise almost one 8% average in the province. It remains to be known how much the increase that the oil companies will apply in the sales values at the pumps will be.
