The cultural manager and president of the contest, Lupe Díaz, explained that the event will take place from April 27 to May 1 in Ciego de Ávila, with a program of conversations, theoretical meetings, book presentations, master classes, shows and dance workshops. .
The meeting will honor the International Dance Day and is dedicated to the Afro-Haitian dances of the municipality of Primero de Enero, where the Sabicú settlement exists, formed by descendants of immigrants from Haiti, with its group carrying Naggó traditions, founded in 1981.
The event is sponsored by the Provincial Council of Performing Arts, the Hermanos Saíz Association with an urban dance company, the Provincial Book Company and the Guiñol Polichinela theater group with the children of the Corazón Project.
Danzar en Casa aims to develop the enrichment of different styles of dance, with the aim of preserving, promoting and making visible the cultural heritage of Avila, where peasant, Haitian and English-speaking traditions coincide, said Díaz, who is also the general producer of Latins Luli’ s Productions.
Among the guests at the Dance of Pleasures, Compañía Zama, ALarte, Art Nova, Telón Abierto, Naggó, the 20th Anniversary Group, the Metanoia, Gamadh and children’s projects Peques del Batey stood out, as well as students from the Elementary School of Art. Ñola Sahing from the town.
