A conflict over representativeness, ancestrality, inter and intra-clan, in the community of Sukuluwou – Ishouly, jurisdiction of the Municipality of Uribia, led to the construction of a masonry wall on the Cuatro Vías – Maicao – Uribia road reaching Pk16+218 of the access road to Beta Park in Alta Guajira.

It was learned that the construction of the wall was led by a Wayuú leader advised by an external person, who are claiming to be the only representatives of the community, leaving aside the other clans that converge in the territory.

For today, a unified command post is scheduled to be held, convened by the Secretary of the Departmental Government, Misael Velásquez Granadillo, to analyze the situation and make a decision, since yesterday a first meeting was held without achieving any type of agreement. agreement to tear down the wall.

Velásquez Granadillo expressed his concern because the roads are being taken, generating conflicts with other communities that do not agree with the construction of the wall.

Four clans converge in the territory, which are integrated into the Sukuluwou Decision-Making Committee, and the group that took the routes in fact refuses to participate, arguing that it is the only Clan subject to law in the territory.

This media learned that since March 25, inhabitants of the sector led by Mr. Jairo Durán, maintain a blockade at the entrance to the territory, those who built the wall and demand, in addition to the change of traditional authority, that the EDPR company fulfill its obligations. requirements.

The secretary of the departmental government, Misael Velázquez Granadillo, participated yesterday in a meeting in the sector accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Directorate of Ethnic Affairs, Ombudsman’s Office, and the mayor’s office of Uribia.

The community of Sukuluwou is the entrance to the Beta Park and is part of its area of ​​influence, a project that would be generating 500 MW that will be able to cover the energy consumption of 820,000 families in the national territory, and would also contribute to reducing 1.4 million tons of CO2 during the useful life of the complex.
