Medellín, April 26, 2024.

– All road corridors with the highest influx of vehicles are enabled.

– The Government has yellow machinery to deal with any eventuality that may arise on the roads during the weekend.

With the objective of maintaining an efficient and safe road network, the Secretariat of Physical Infrastructure of Antioquia has its emergency response and subregional maintenance contracts active. In addition, it deploys technical personnel and yellow machinery in various parts of the territory to address any situation that may affect the mobility of Antioquia residents.

All corridors in charge of the Government of Antioquia with the greatest influx of vehicles are enabled for the transit of road users.

Below is a summary of the current restrictions for traffic in the department of Antioquia.

News on the Las Palmas dual carriageway, Las Palmas, Santa Elena variant and on the Aburrá Oriente – Oriente Tunnel Road Connection:

• Saxony – Airport dual carriageway: works in the external roundabout sector of the José María Córdova airport (construction of the road interchange).

● Via Santa Elena: enabled with Stop and Go control at km 6 + 070, Media Luna path, lower part (Chirimollo sector) and km 11 + 200, Mirador sector due to road work.

● Las Palmas variant route: enabled. Cargo vehicle restriction

greater than four (4) tons.

● Via Aburrá Oriente Road Connection – Oriente Tunnel: enabled 24 hours a day, with traffic restrictions for cargo vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, teaching vehicles, motorcycles, animal-drawn vehicles and chivas.

On Sunday, April 14, the Oriente Tunnel will have unidirectional traffic between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm returning in the direction of Rionegro – Medellín.

● Las Palmas Dual Carriageway: enabled with restriction to vehicles carrying more than four (4) tons between km 6 + 600 (above the ‘Chuscalito’ restaurant) to km 16 + 600 (Alto de Las Palmas roundabout).

On Sunday, April 28, there will be a bike lane, so traffic will be in a single lane from 5:30 am to 10:30 am, in the left lane of the uphill road.

News in the EAST subregion:

● Cocorná – El Ramal – Granada: partial bank losses occur at km 1 + 200, km 2 + 700, km 3 + 800, km 4 + 300 and at km 4 + 700. Travel with caution.

● El Retiro – Montebello: traffic is permanently restricted for vehicles with maximum loads of 10 tons on the La Granja (Montebello)-El Retiro road, road code 56AN04, in the department of Antioquia, according to Agency Resolution No. 2023060084592. of Departmental Road Safety on August 2, 2023.

● Abejorral – Pantanillo – El Oro: traffic is restricted for vehicles with loads greater than 12 tons on the Abejorral – Pantanillo – El Oro road, road code 05002VT176, in the department of Antioquia, according to Resolution No. 2023060346353 of the Transportation Agency. Departmental Road Safety on October 13, 2023.

● La Morelia (Route 56) – Abejorral: the total closure of the road at km 9 + 200 is authorized indefinitely for the demolition of an existing vehicular bridge that has structural failures, and the construction of a new vehicular bridge. According to Resolution No. 2023060350416 of the Departmental Road Safety Agency of November 17, 2023

● Sanctuary – El Carmen: improvement of 12 km of the road that connects these two municipalities.

News in the WEST subregions:

● Miserenga (Cruce Route 62) – Ebéjico – Seville – Heliconia – Alto del Chuscal: at km 26 + 000 there is a geologically unstable area and work on the road at km 8 + 500 and km 45 + 500 construction of retaining walls respectively and at km 61 + 800 there is a loss of bank. Additionally, the activation of the Traffic Management Plan – Partial Closure for the road is authorized, in the sector between La Miserenga (Cruce de Ruta 62) km 0 + 000 and Ebéjico (Quebrada La Sucia) km 3 + 127, according to Resolution No. 2023060347919 from the Departmental Road Safety Agency on October 26, 2023.

● Alto del Chuscal – San Antonio de Prado: geologically unstable area at km 7 + 900, at km 5 + 400 and at km 5 + 200 there is a loss of bench. Travel with caution.

● San Jerónimo – Poleal – San Pedro de los Milagros: construction of a vehicular bridge in PR 15 + 300, total road closure, and in PR 0 + 350 to PR 3 + 500 there are partial closures due to road paving works. via.

● El Tonusco Bridge: the passage over the Tonusco River bridge is 100% enabled. The temporary passage of the embankment was disabled.

• Heavy load restriction: During this time, the passage of vehicles with a load equal to or greater than 3.4 t is not authorized.

Alternate route: Medellín – Tarazá – Caucasia – Planeta Rica – Montería – Puerto Rey – Arboletes – Mellitos – Necoclí.

At other times, unidirectional traffic continues to be maintained for vehicles not exceeding 52 t. and with a maximum speed of 20 km/h.

● Paso Real Bridge: the passage of the following vehicles and pedestrians is allowed 24 hours a day:

o Motorcycles and mototaxis

o Cyclists

News in the SOUTHWEST subregion:

● Via Caicedo – Urrao: km 16 + 00, landslide occurs, machinery in place, travel with caution.

● El Barroso – El Chaquiro – Salgar: partial bank loss occurs at km 1 + 000, km 4 + 200, km 10 + 400. Caution when traveling.

● Támesis – Valparaíso: partial bank loss occurs at km 17 + 300 and km 18 + 400. Travel with caution.

● La Tolva – Piedra Verde – Ye to Fredonia: Loss of bench is evident at km 11 + 300 and at km 12 + 150, mitigation works are presented, travel with caution, passage restricted to one (1) lane.

● Puente Iglesias (Route 25B) – La Ye – Jericó: total loss of banking in the La Viña sector (km 4 + 900 from Jericó). If you are heading to the sector, take alternate routes.

The Antioquia Physical Infrastructure Secretariat recommends to the entire community:

– Do not drive if you drink liquor

– Travel with caution at night

– Respect the traffic signals
