About 20 Heavily armed men entered the sector known as ‘La Cantera’ in rural area of ​​Riohacha. They intimidated the workers and proceeded to incinerate about 14 cargo vehicles and yellow machinery.

“There are no complaints of extortion so far in the National Police, we are waiting to speak with Colonel Rico of the Army and we wait when we get there to have the report of what happened. The situation is serious, There are 14 incinerated vehicles and two yellow machines, it is a very high value“, indicated the Secretary of the District Government of Riohacha Wilson Rojas Vanegas.

Rojas also pointed out that he hopes that upon arriving in the area the businessmen will give them the respective information about what has happened prior to this criminal act.

The situation has generated alarm among residents of the sector.

It was learned from an official Police source that the investigation would be assumed by the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI), so they are awaiting their arrival at the site to carry out urgent actions. Until now, members of the Police and the Army are present in the area.

The affected company would be a contractor consortium of the Albanian mayor’s office, which awarded the rehabilitation works of the La Florida-Cuestecitas road, worth more than 79 billion pesos in 2022.
