The insecurity in Villavicencio has reached a critical pointevidenced by three armed attacks against members of the Police in less than 24 hours.
The most recent took place in the La Reliquia neighborhood, where a Deputy Mayor of the Police officer was shot in the head while participating in a rally of beautification and decoration in the sports center of the sector. According to preliminary information, a man approached and, without saying a word, attacked the uniformed man.
In another incident, which occurred around 4:20 in the morning this Friday, two uniformed Metropolitan Police officers were attacked with a traumatic weapon while carrying out patrol work. One of them was wounded in the buttock, while the other was saved by the bulletproof vest he was wearing.
The authorities are investigating who could be responsible and whether these attacks represent a systematic attack against the Public Force in the capital of Meta.
The mayor of the city, Alexander Baquero, has repeatedly stated that the perception of insecurity in Villavicencio is just that, a perception, and that the figures show a decrease in crimes. However, citizens are concerned about the wave of robberies and homicides that have been recorded.
