Last Wednesday it was learned that the fishing community of the municipality of El Banco, Magdalena, was suffering a serious situation due to the weeds that had taken over the Ciénaga de Zapatosa, on the Caño del Río Cesar, which was preventing the work of fishing and, therefore, the economic stability of hundreds of families, who requested the intervention of the municipal administration.

In response to the call of this community, the mayor of the municipality of El Banco traveled to this sector in the company of the Secretariat of Infrastructure to inspect and begin the recovery of this lagoon complex and thus guarantee the livelihood of these families who depend purely on the fishing.

“We were accompanying the community in the work of unclogging some sections of the river and we reiterate that from the municipal mayor’s office and its entire work team we are going to provide solutions for this problem,” said Mayor Ronald Flórez.

Likewise, it was learned that during the visit of the municipal administration they spoke with the fishing community about some aid projects in order to find economic alternatives for the families adjacent to the Ciénaga de Zapatosa.

For his part, the representative of the Fishermen’s Association of that area of ​​the municipality of El Banco assured that they were satisfied to receive the attention of the municipal administration in response to the call from the fishing communities of the region.
