A college in Entre Ríos declared itself 100% smoke-free

The Faculty of Bromatology of the UNER, in Gualeguaychú, prohibited smoking in classrooms, offices, closed, semi-closed and open spaces.

Within the framework of Earth Week, the Faculty of Food Science of the National University of Entre Ríos (UNER) adhered to the Municipal Ordinance of Gualeguaychú No. 12,134/2017 and is a smoke-free building.

This ordinance is based on health protection, with specific data issued by the WHO, World Health Organization, National Law No. 19,587/72 and its regulatory Decree No. 351/79, Law on Hygiene and Safety at Work, National Law No. 26,687/2011, Provincial Law No. 9862/2011 and the University regulations on the regulation of smoke-free spaces.

In this sense, Resolution CD No. 053/2024 establishes the Faculty of Food Science of the National University of Entre Ríos as a smoke-free building, including closed, semi-covered and open spaces.

Likewise, it establishes the prohibition of smoking in all classrooms, offices, closed, semi-closed and open spaces of this Academic Unit; whatever its location.

Smoking

Exposure to tobacco smoke causes harm and this Institution has the responsibility to protect the health of its students, teachers, non-teachers and visitors. Tobacco smoke is a risk factor for various diseases, such as cancer, heart and respiratory diseases, with exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke being as harmful as direct smoking.
