In a coordinated operation between the National Police, the Mayor’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office, a man identified as an important member of a gang dedicated to automobile theft in the cities of Bogotá and Tunja was captured in the last few hours. The subject, known by the alias ‘John Thailand’, was arrested as a result of meticulous investigative work.

Colonel Marcos Forero explained that “The capture of alias ‘John Thailand’ occurred after identifying his participation in the theft of several vehicles on February 8 and 13 in the city of Tunja. “This individual is part of an organization that sells stolen car parts in Bogotá.”

Thanks to the efforts of the Prosecutor’s Office, arrest warrants were issued and searches and raids were carried out in the city of Bogotá, where in addition to the arrest, the vehicle used to commit the robberies and parts of other possibly stolen vehicles were seized.

The criminal history of ‘John Thailand’ includes seven judicial notes for crimes such as prisoner escape, domestic violence, personal falsehood, firearms trafficking and homicide. Colonel Forero also mentioned that the criminal had previously been captured in Thailand for residential theft, deported and convicted in Colombia for homicide.
