It is the first interactive museum of vallenato music in the country, which tells the story of the Maestro’s more than 40 years of artistic life.

In Valledupar, the Cocha Molina Museum opened its doors, the first interactive space of its kind that aims to tell the story of the 40 years of the Maestro’s artistic life, and which is, in turn, a way to pay tribute to folklore and the culture of vallenato music by the King of Kings, Gonzalo Arturo ‘El Cocha’ Molina.

On the verge of beginning a new edition of the Vallenata Legend Festival, tourists, nationals and foreigners, can enjoy an authentic experience in the ‘Remembrance and Work’ Room of this Museum, where they will find a summary of the historical journey of these four decades career of the vallenato artist, connecting people with the musical tradition of vallenato, from a unique and interactive experience, which seeks to transmit its memory to all generations.

“I want to highlight that this work is not only a journey of what these 40 years of absolute dedication to Vallenata music have been like from my precious accordion, but it is also a legacy that I want to give with love to the people, to the music. , to culture, and thus contribute to the preservation of our folklore and vallenato. A genre that is absolutely native to our country,” he said.

According to Julieth Peraza, co-founder of the Cocha Molina Foundation, what makes this new cultural setting unique is that it is a space designed to generate sensations that are perceived through the senses, activating the neural system and generating emotions, in such a way that the sharper they are, the longer they will remain in people’s memories.

EVERY NOTE, A STORY

“The starting point for developing this museum was to revive the past. And the journey through this magical place begins from the Master’s childhood and culminates with the present moment. It is a space in which, through panels, colors, lighting, sound and technology, each person can enjoy an eclectic place that seeks to express the love of art, folklore and music. The Cocha Molina Museum is a place where each note tells a story,” added the director.

In addition to accordions, photographs, experiences with great minstrels (like Diomedes Díaz); platinum and gold records, the Crown of the King of Kings, Awards (such as the Grammy) and other attractions that are exhibited in the Museum; People will be able to enjoy a Concert with 3D glasses. Through this experience, it is guaranteed that there is the best balance between quality and performance in the immersive video, which is key for the enjoyment of visitors so that they can feel, from an augmented reality, the art of vallenato music from the digital and interactive.

Two more rooms will be inaugurated soon. The first of them is ‘Patillal’, which is a permanent room in which substantial aspects of the history of the ancestors and musical roots of Cocha will be exhibited. And the second is a room to hold different types of social and corporate events, in order to continue preserving the legacy of Vallenato music and to continue bringing the footprint of the excellent accordionist to the world.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF ‘EL COCHA’ MOLINA

Gonzalo Arturo Molina, better known as ‘El Cocha’ Molina, was born in Valledupar, Cesar, on June 11, 1965. This accordion player of vallenato music has been winner of the ‘Rey Vallenato Aficionado’, ‘Rey Vallenato Professional’ and ‘Rey Vallenato Professional’ categories. Rey de Reyes’ of the Vallenata Legend Festival, which have been precious recognitions for his musical talent. Furthermore, he is the last traditional ‘King of Kings’ who is still active on stage.

On the other hand, he has recorded musical productions with the most renowned vallenato artists, such as Diomedes Díaz, Poncho Zuleta, Iván Villazón, Jorge Oñate, among others.

In 1995 he recorded a musical production with the Cuban-American couple Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan at the renowned ‘Crescent Moon’ studio in the city of Miami, titled Opening doorsan album that won a Grammy Award, and which had a success that allowed it to be recognized internationally.
