Huachipato was beaten 4-0 by Universidad de Chile this Sunday at the CAP Stadium, with two goals from Cristián Palacios and 10 games undefeated in the First Division.
Those led by Gustavo Álvarez also scored through Leandro Fernández and Luciano Pons.
Fernández opened the scoring for U. de Chile in the 26th minute, completing a quick low pass that slipped into the left corner. The visitors soon increased their lead 10 minutes later with the first of Palacios’ two goals, assisted by Fernández.
The U. of Chile expanded its advantage thanks to Palacios, who connected a volley with his second goal to put his team 3-0 up in the 60th minute, midfielder Marcelo Díaz this time was the assist. The 4-0 came after a second assist from Fernández that helped Pons put his team ahead with two minutes remaining, finishing a counterattack into the net.
Maximiliano Guerrero wasted a good chance for the U. of Chile, while Huachipato lamented Felipe Loyola’s lack of composure.

Palacios reached six in the league season with his two goals, the second consecutive appearance with a goal for the team’s scorer, in addition to being the second top scorer in the competition overall. Fernández’s assists allowed him to add five in the season, the highest number of goal assists this campaign in the competition. Gabriel Castellón kept a clean sheet for the fifth time this season in 10 appearances in the competition, which is the second best record among First Division goalkeepers.
INJURY REPORT:
There were worrying injuries for both teams: Mario Briceño had to go first to Huachipato in the 40th minute and the U. de Chile lost José Castro in the 86th minute.
