Transportation in Córdoba: The UCR denounces that 40% fewer buses circulate today than in 1994 – ENREDACCIÓN – Córdoba

The former Secretary of Transportation and Transit under Ramón Mestre, Juan Pablo Díaz Cardeilhac, expressed that “today nearly 700 units are operating, of which more than 50% have completed their useful life, while in 1994 there were 1,100 units. with a significantly lower population.” This is an amount 40% lower than that of three decades ago.

Díaz Cardeilhac’s statements were made during his dissertation on the transportation situation in Córdoba Capital, invited by the Study Center for a Better Córdoba, chaired by provincial legislator Dante Rossi (UCR).

In attendance were, among others, the former undersecretaries of Transportation and Transit of the Municipality of Córdoba, Pablo Farías and César Ferreyra, the former undersecretary of Transit, Adrián Cena, councilor Verónica Garade Panetta and the vice president of the Radical Youth Luciana Almada.

Díaz Cardeilhac expressed that “10 years ago it was known that Ersa was leaving on March 1, so it is striking that the municipal authorities act surprised by this fact.”

He also said, in another part of his speech, that “just as the Nation is asked to replace transportation subsidies, the municipality should do so with the Province, which eliminated them untimely.”

For his part, Rossi pointed out that “in the city, in terms of transportation, everything is improvisation. Transportation must be a state policy, it must be planned for the next 30 years.”

The legislator added in his speech that “the transportation situation in the city is unsustainable. People report waits of 45 minutes to an hour in some services, especially in the former Ersa corridors.”

Rossi, at the end of the meeting, explained a series of proposals to “ensure and sustain the mobility of residents by promoting the massive use of public transportation”:

– Resume the construction of the only buses on Avda. Colón, Fuerza Aérea, Malvinas.
