As usually happens at the beginning of the month, May bring new increases. This time, the items affected will be transportation, fuel, rentals, communications and domestic employment, among others.
Despite the inflationary slowdown marked by the INDEC Consumer Price Index (CPI) and private measurements, goods and services with a high degree of impact on the economy of Argentine families continue to register increases. Below, a summary of the main ones that are coming in May.
Transport
In recent days, in Mendoza a sharp increase in public transport fares was made official: no less than 175% from one day to the next.
Although the official communication was made this Friday, so the increase has been in effect since that day, it will begin to affect users in these days, when the update on the payment machines ends.
Naphtha
On May 1, the Government will update the last tranche of the partial increase in taxes on liquid fuel (ICL) and carbon dioxide (IDC), which is transferred directly to the price of a liter of gasoline and diesel, so gasoline will have a increase of around 8%.

Cell phones
Communications companies will apply a new increase in cell phone rates in the first days of the fifth month of the year. The increase will be between 10% and 20%, depending on the service and the operator.

Rentals
Tenants who rented under the Rental Law between July 1, 2020 and October 17, 2023, will have increases of around 200% annually in the amounts to be paid. The increase is carried out despite the fact that the regulations have been repealed, since the contracts signed in said period must be fulfilled until the expiration date.
domestic employment
The Work Commission in Private Homes defined a new increase in the minimum remuneration of personnel who perform domestic tasks. The same will be 18.77% in two sections: 11% in April and 7% in May. The increase will be based on the salaries paid in March.
