With the aim of continuing to strengthen initial education through robotics and the cognitive development of children in the region, the XI version of the VilTI SeMANN 2024 program was launched in Antofagasta, an initiative promoted by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Research and Technological Development (VRIDT) of the Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN), with support from SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal.

The ceremony was attended by Pablo Pisani, Corporate Affairs Manager of SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal; Bárbara Torres, director of the Department of Innovation and Technology Transfer of the UCN; Olga Hernández Gallo, director of the ViLTI SeMANN Program; and families from the different groups of the program, who had the opportunity to share their experiences and expectations.

As ViLTI SeMANN focuses on innovation, the launch featured an experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI), which played the role of master of ceremony and guided the presentation of the program’s achievements and objectives in an impeccable manner.

For her part, the director of Innovation and Technology Transfer of the UCN, Bárbara Torres Vallejos, commented that “As a University we have a strong commitment to education, and being able to intervene or impact in some way early on our young students and for them to learn about innovation through robotics is essential”. The director of the ViLTI SeMANN Program, Olga Hernández Gallo, added that “This launch here in Antofagasta is relevant since it is the second year that we have returned to work in the town, after seven years of inactivity here, because we grew up in other towns and we are very happy since we are going to develop all our work sessions here at the Universidad Católica del Norte thanks to the space of the Faculty of Education.”

The ViLTI SeMANN Program has established itself as a benchmark in the region, providing innovative pedagogical methodologies and strategies to enhance the learning of science and robotics for boys and girls. During the ceremony, the commitment of the UCN and SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal in the development of human capital and the promotion of cognitive evolution from an early age was highlighted.

In addition, this program will be relaunched in the communes of Tocopilla, Huara, La Tirana and María Elena, where boys and girls will continue learning about robotics through play.
