An emotional event led by Governor Andrés Julián Rendón, in which the flag of Antioquia was presented to nine boys and one girl, marked the beginning of the adventure, which will allow them to represent Antioquia on this international stage.
“Go ahead, many congratulations, may you learn a lot, may you give, as I know you know how to do, the best of yourselves and from now on we feel very proud of you,” said the Governor of Antioquia to the ten children who will represent Colombia in the Vex World Championship
Andrés Julián gave the children the flag of Antioquia and asked to fly it in the contest and hold our region high. In addition, he highlighted the importance of the trip not only because they will represent the country and the department, but because they will be able to share with other children and young people to learn from them, “which is priceless and will be something that they will remember for a lifetime,” he said. .
The infants left for the city of Dallas, in the United States, to compete for one of the most outstanding robotics awards in the world in its category. As reported, the Institute for the Development of Antioquia, IDEA and Celsia, a subsidiary energy company of the Argos Group, contributed to the trip and the participation of these children in the event.
The Vex World Championship
This is considered one of the largest robotics events in the world and has the Guinness record for robots in a single place. The participants, nine boys and one girl between the ages of 10 and 13, are from El Carmen de Viboral, La Ceja, La Unión and Rionegro, competed at the national level with the challenge “Vex iq full volume”, a robot with the capacity to store different materials making a correct separation. With this same instrument they now compete globally seeking to be among the first places in the world in terms of robotic solutions and to be an inspiration for thousands of young people from Antioquia and Colombia.
