From the Student Centers they reject the judge’s behavior in the University Dining Hall

By Francisco López Giorcelli

The confirmation of the celebration for Labor Day that Senator Luis Juez will lead in the University Dining Hall tomorrow unleashed a strong request from the UNC Student Center that rejects the presence of the head of the PRO bench in the Upper House. And within hours of the discussion of the Bases Law in Congress. Motorized inadmissibility to Judge because, after a great discussion about the university budget in recent weeks, in which the current senator did not take a position on the matter. And, despite having sent his own troops on the day of the march to the vicinity of the Argentina Pavilion for the photo, Judge always decided to endorse the economic measures promoted by the Government of Javier Milei.

Although it is not the first time that this use has been granted to the University Dining Hall, in fact last year the Judge had done the same thing, promising that the next time he would do it as governor, something that did not happen, it was never under a context where the University It comes with a strong lack of funding and giving rise to a character who, having the right to use that space, then does not show up in defense of these places. In 2023, Judge led the event within the framework of the provincial campaign and accompanied on that occasion by the radical Rodrigo de Loredo, who would now be in doubt about confirming attendance at the crazy judge for two reasons: the first, the escrache that occurred at the march last week; the second, the excuse for the extensive debate in Deputies for the Bases Law, where it once again became the focus of numerous criticisms.

The use of UNC spaces is requested through the entrance table of what was previously the SAE and is now known as the Secretary of Student Welfare and Modernization under the direction of Matías Lingua, a man of Borettism with great confidence on the part of the rector. John Boretto. From there the use of the University Dining Hall should have been managed, so the report should be available to whoever requests it.

In this framework, the student centers of Dentistry, Law, Arts, Philosophy, Communication and FAMAF raised a request for a report regarding the use given to the University Dining Hall, at the same time they asked to “audit the fees and the destination of the income generated” from the use of the space, understanding that “it is relevant to our university community” dictates the report request.

The person in charge of submitting the report was Agustín Canto, president of the Dentistry Student Center, General Secretary of the FUC and candidate for student councilor for the La Fuerza front. The student leader told Bishop that “in the framework of an electoral context, we believe it is pertinent to have clarity in the use of the University’s public spaces, taking this into account, it is very important that in the case of the rental of these places it can be demonstrated where these go. funds” referring to the fees that must be paid and for the moment it is not known where they end.

Going deeper into the idea, Canto said that in addition to knowing the destination of those funds, he considers it valuable that “those funds are used for student well-being, which is a common goal that we have as university students.” When asked about Luis Juez’s act, about which there is not much clear information about how the place was acquired, Agustín Canto made it clear that “it would be good if in case of holding acts or events where the space is not rented, it would be clearly communicated how “permission can be obtained.”

Specifically, regarding the senator, he said that “we must be very careful about who we lend those spaces to, especially if they are political actors who do not share or do not defend the Public University as if we do it from our spaces” at the same time he highlights that “ We (the student front) think it is very important to take into account these issues that do not build but, on the contrary, can alter the use of these spaces and even more so if they are used for proselytizing purposes,” stated the Secretary General of the FUC.

In the report request submitted by the six student centers that make up the La Fuerza front, they ask that the income generated by the University be allocated primarily to cover student needs, especially if the context of debate around the university budget is taken into account. which is at historic lows since records were recorded in 1997.

In the document, to which he had access Bishop, mark a dividing line with the senator. They specifically establish that it is “unacceptable that the possibility of renting or lending for use the facilities of the University Dining Hall to individuals or entities that do not share or support our values and the principles of our public university is contemplated,” highlighting that “it is even more worrying, when these actors do not speak out in favor of the defense of higher education, and on the contrary, support government measures that threaten our fundamental interests” they say from the front in the report request.

In the same document they name the senator to request that the highest body of university government “categorically reject the use of our common space by Senator Luis Juez, whose position in relation to the defense of the public university has not been forceful, and far As a result, he has publicly and repeatedly supported the economic measures undertaken by the national government, which directly affect the financing of our University.”

Under a request for an audit of the income or fees that the university receives for the use of its common spaces, La Fuerza concludes its request for a report by urging “this honorable body to take immediate measures to address concerns and guarantee that the resources of our university are used in a fair and equitable manner for the benefit of the university community”

In this way, the second university force, coincidentally, the La Fuerza front, tries to put a stop to the misuse of university public spaces, or in any case, to give it a blanket of clarity, especially in these issues that are quite ambiguous regarding the ways of being able to have permission to use a space that later when it comes to defending there is no correlation of story.
