Cuba with complex electro-energy scenario

The UNE estimates for peak hour an availability of 2,367 MW and a maximum demand of 2,750 MW, for a deficit of 383 MW, so if the expected conditions continue, an impact of 453 MW is forecast during this time.

Havana Cuba. – The National Electrical Union indicates that yesterday the service was affected due to a deficit in generation capacity from 10:09 a.m. until 01:23 a.m. today.

The maximum impact on the day was 561 MW at 8:40 p.m., coinciding with peak hour.

The availability of the SEN at 07:00 hours is 1985 MW and the demand is 1890 MW, with the entire system with service. It is estimated that the service will begin to be affected from 09:00 a.m., with a maximum impact of 200 MW.

Units 2 and 3 of the CTE Santa Cruz, unit 5 of the CTE Rente and unit 2 of the CTE Felton are in breakdown. Unit 6 of Energas Jaruco, unit 1 of the CTE Santa Cruz, unit 6 of the CTE Nuevitas and unit 8 of the CTE Mariel are under maintenance. The limitations on thermal generation are 414 MW.

31 distributed generation plants are out of service due to fuel, with 284 MW affected by this concept.

For the peak, the input of Distributed Generation motors that are awaiting maintenance and their use is authorized with 134 MW, the two motors in the Regla lake with 18 MW, the input of unit 2 of the CTE Santa Cruz with 65 MW, the entry of unit 5 of the CTE Rente with 65 MW and the entry of engines in Distributed Generation that are out of fuel with 100 MW.

With this forecast, an availability of 2,367 MW and a maximum demand of 2,750 MW are estimated for peak hour, for a deficit of 383 MW, so if the forecast conditions continue, an impact of 453 MW is forecast during this time.
