In Palmira, the decree prohibiting the consumption of psychoactive substances in public spaces and of course in school environments was socialized. Besides, Some of the measures that will be in place in said municipality for Mother’s Day were known.
These decisions They were announced after a security council led by the mayor of Palmira, Víctor Ramos. There, some measures were prioritized to combat the crime that attacks the city.
On the one hand, Decree 513 of April 26, 2024 was socialized“By which the perimeters are established for the application of the restrictions referred to in Law 1801 of 2016, modified by Law 2000 of 2019, regarding behaviors related to psychoactive substances and other provisions are dictated.”
This prohibits the consumption of psychoactive substances in public spaces, near educational centers, among other spaces.

What will be the special measures?
Some of the special measures for the celebration of Mother’s Day are: prohibition of male barbecue grills over 12 years of age 24 hours a day and restriction of motorcycle circulation.
This last measure will be valued as a pilot that will apply during the weekends between 11:00 pm and 05:00 am
It was also known that police units will be increased during the Mother’s Day weekend. This in order to reinforce the feeling of security among the inhabitants of Palmira.
Finally, they highlighted the ‘PUMAS’ Strategy (Safer United Palmira), lwhich has contributed significantly to the reduction of crime in the municipality.
