This was announced by the Governor during his speech before the Legislative Assembly. There, he explained that “we are fulfilling the old desire of making water security the main policy of the State of Mendoza.”
Governor Alfredo Cornejo began the 184th period of ordinary sessions. This is the first speech of his second term as provincial leader. Among the announcements, he assured that the process of codification of the water legal regime is underway. In that sense, he maintained that the implementation of the first Mendoza Water Code will lead his Government to fulfill “the old desire to make water security the main policy of the State of Mendoza.”
Likewise, he made it clear that the main purpose of the initiative will be to “consolidate the institutionality of water and legal security for the present and future generations. In this way, we seek to condense in a single text and based on the principles of water policy consolidated in the provincial Constitution, the more than 120 current rules and regulations that regulate water in the province.”
Meanwhile, the General Department of Irrigation (DGI) detailed that the codification process “involves a challenge of articulation of different sectors framed in a participation scheme with information stages and consultation workshops. These workshops will be aimed at experts and different central actors for the water sector and the development of our province.”
