If you suspect that the meat you bought is spoiled, do not consume it. Throw it away immediately and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

To prevent food poisoning from spoiled meat, it is important to follow these recommendations:

  • Buy meat from reliable sources. Choose butcher shops or supermarkets that have a good reputation and that comply with food hygiene standards.
  • Check meat carefully before purchasing. Pay attention to the smell, color, texture and appearance.
  • Store meat in the refrigerator at a temperature of 4°C or lower. Ground beef should be cooked within two days of purchasing it. Fresh meat should be cooked within three days of purchase.
  • Wash your hands well with soap and water before and after handling meat.
  • Cook meat completely before eating. Ground beef should be cooked to an internal temperature of 71°C. Fresh meat should be cooked to an internal temperature of 63°C.
  • Do not reheat the meat more than once.
