Paralympic sports delegation will represent Los Ríos in La Pampa, Argentina

There are two sports disciplines that will compete in the 2024 edition of the Para Araucanía Binational Games.

At the High Performance Nautical Center (CAR Náutico), the athletes’ farewell took place, accompanied by family, friends and companions from educational establishments. Meeting space in which the itinerary and calendar of competitions were presented, in addition to the delivery of sports clothing for the delegation.

A total of 36 people will make up the delegation, made up of 5 for swimmers and 14 for athletes, along with coaches, judges, kinesiologists, companions and professionals from the National Sports Institute.

The group will begin its trip on Saturday, May 4, the competitive meeting will begin on Sunday, the 5th, with the functional classification that will last until Monday, the 6th. On the same Monday, in the afternoon, the Opening Ceremony of the juices, while the tests will be taking place on Monday, May 6, Tuesday, May 7, and Wednesday, May 8. The Closing Ceremony will close the sporting event on Wednesday, while the return of the delegation is coordinated for Thursday, May 9.

In the farewell of the delegation, the Seremi of Sports René Antío A., who pointed out that the 2025 event of these games will be held in the regional capital of Los Ríos, added that “we have said farewell to the delegation that will represent our region in the Games for Araucanía 2024, we are really satisfied with the work of the technical teams of the regional sports institutions and that capacity for articulation with the different levels of the civil world oriented to sports. Joint work that results in this large delegation, which will undoubtedly leave the name of our region of Los Ríos at the top and will undoubtedly be the motivation for other children, adolescents and adults with some type of disability to “Add to the practice of sports and in this way let us all continue promoting significant improvements for inclusion and using sport as a fundamental tool for this great purpose and goal of life.”

Sergio Carrasco, who for the third time will be part of the para athletics technical team, points out in his evaluation that “we have noticed great progress in this process, since when the first games were held in the city of Neuquén, we only participated with 3 athletes in total. Last year in Temuco with 6, and this year, we are already going with 12 athletes. So that makes us feel very happy, Paralympic sport has had sustainable growth. “We have been working together with the IND and with our sports club so that this is maintained and grows with a view to the next Para Araucanía Games that are in our region, next year 2025.”

The competitions in this version of the games will have as their epicenter the AllBoys Santa Rosa Athletic Club for Paralympic swimming and the Laguna Don Tomás Sports Complex for the Paralympic athletics events.

Let us remember that these games are part of the Andean Integration Games program of the National Sports Institute, taking place annually in Paralympic sports in the month of May and conventional sports during the month of November. With the participation of delegations from the Argentine provinces of Neuquén, Santa Cruz, La Pampa, Tierra del Fuego, Chubut and Río Negro; and the Chilean regions of Ñuble, Biobío, Araucanía, Los Ríos, Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes.
