Daniel Antonio Colás Soulary, a promising young baseball player, died in Santiago de Cuba on the same day he turned 23 years old.

Daniel Antonio Colás Soulary, a player on the Santiago team, died after fighting an illness that had kept him off the playing fields since last season, according to sports journalist Jorge Luis Guerra.

During his career, Colás left a significant mark on Cuban baseball. He participated in three National Series with the team Santiago de Cubawhere he was always considered an outstanding talent.

His potential was so great that mentor Eriberto Rosales saw him as the best in his position in the entire country.

Although his life was short, Colás left his mark on the field. He was part of the runner-up team of Santiago de Cuba in the under-23 tournament and also represented his province in the 59th National Series. However, his final season was cut short due to his illness.

Colás’ numbers speak for themselves: in 94 at-bats, he had a .191 average, with three doubles and a triple, driving in six runs and scoring 20. As for his defensive performance, as a shortstop, he had an average of .903, with 14 errors in 144 throws.

The baseball community in Santiago de Cuba and throughout the country deeply regrets the loss of this young talent, whose potential was cut short too soon. His memory will be honored by his dedication and passion for the beautiful sport on the island.
