Destination Cuba presented at the International Tourism Fair

Precisely, the Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero took part in this meeting, among other leaders and executives from both this country and foreigners attending the meeting.

The commercial director of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), Gihana Galindo, explained in the presentation that in 2023, this nation grew 51 percent in the arrivals of foreign visitors, compared to the previous year.

Therefore, the island continues to be the preference of travelers who choose the destination to enjoy vacations even beyond the sun and beach.

The data adds to the strategy presented in the renewal and redesign of tourist products and destinations, increasing quality, under the sustainable and responsible tourism strategy.

In the presentation of Destination Cuba, the board explained that the portfolio includes offers tailored to satisfy all customer segments and show the beauty and diversity of Cuba.

He said that culture is a motivation to travel and enjoy musical and cultural tourism, learn about local customs and traditions. “Cuba’s culture is one of its great potentials,” she highlighted.

The commercial director of Mintur specified that the hotel plant exceeds 82 thousand rooms with the presence of 18 hotel chains of recognized prestige, which manage 67 percent of the hotel plant, with high comfort, modernity, sustainability and environmental responsibility. She emphasized that the sector’s development plan projects to exceed 110 thousand rooms by 2030. At the end of the first quarter of 2024, international visitor arrivals grew eight percent, compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the current summer season and the next winter season, air operations will continue to grow in markets such as Colombia, Spain, Portugal, Eastern Europe and China.

More than a thousand tourism professionals from 60 countries and 80 specialized journalists, both national and foreign, attend FITCuba. The meeting from May 1 to 5 takes place at the Gran Marena Cayo Coco Hotel and its negotiations represent important steps in the recovery of the travel industry for this nation.
