Córdoba (EFE).- Almost 145,000 people have visited the Patios of Córdoba in the first two days of the contest that began last Thursday and will conclude on May 12 with the challenge of reaching one million visits.
According to the data provided by the Córdoba City Council, on Friday a total of 75,843 visitors accessed the 52 patios that participate in the contest and the 12 that are outside of it.
This figure, together with the 68,975 on the first day, add up to 144,818 who, so far, have visited these unique and characteristic sites of Córdoba, which were declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2012.
On the two days of the Cordoba Patios Festival, the most visited venues are those found in the San Basilio or Alcázar Viejo neighborhood, which received 15,640 visitors on Thursday and 16,459 on Friday.
The Old Alcazar
The Alcázar Viejo neighborhood is where the tradition of the patios began, the competition of which held its first edition sponsored by the Córdoba City Council in 1921.
On Thursday the most visited patio was Maese Luis, 9 next to the Plaza de la Corredera, while on Friday it was Marroquíes, 6, in Santa Marina, one of the classics in terms of obtaining awards are concerned.
In this edition of the festival, there are 52 venues that participate in the competition that awards four different categories (ancient architecture, modern architecture, unique patio and young patio), while another 12 patio houses also open their doors outside of the competition to form up to six different routes to offer the visitor a tour of the entire historic center of the city.
Specifically, the patios are concentrated in the areas of Regina-Realejo, Santa Marina-San Agustín, Judería-San Francisco, San Lorenzo, Santiago-San Pedro and San Basilio-Alcázar Viejo. EFE
