Taboada called to discuss a development agenda because “oil has an expiration date”

Guild holder truckersJorge Taboada, spoke this Friday with FM EL CHUBUT in the program INVINCIBLES hosted by journalist Rodrigo Mansilla and raised in this conversation the need for the province to discuss an agenda in pursuit of “employment generation”, by setting an expiration date to the oil activity in Chubut and highlighting the impact that this would generate in the Province.

“I believe in the generation of employment, the palliatives are temporary, I believe in quality work. We have discussed it with the Governor, we have to get together and put together strategies for the generation of quality employment,” stated the union leader, raising in this online discussions regarding mining or fishing activity, among others, “regardless of whether or not we are in favor of these activities.”

“The oil is running out. We have to work to see what we are going to do with Chubut when the oil is no longer there, because “The oil in the San Jorge Gulf has an expiration date,” He warned and ruled that given this and the impact it will cause in Chubut “We have to look for another alternative.”

Taboada stated that welfare measures “are palliative” and that “they are not going to replace oil activity and what it generates, which is why different discussions must be held.” He pointed out that the detriment of conventional oil extraction not only responds to the energy transition of the great powers, but also occurs due to the change to fracking, which is concentrated in Vaca Muerta.

“We have to discuss what we are going to do with Chubut,” he said in this scenario.

He confirmed in this sense that this issue of installing a development agenda “I raised it with the Governor and we completely agree that we have to sit down with all the actors in society, we have to bring together all living forces of the province and “We have to discuss which province we want and what we want because if we don’t we will stay at home waiting for the death that will surely come to us.”

He considered in this context that the moment is right, since “we have to work before things happen,” and regretting that “we were useless for 117 years to give added value to oil.”

“We must convene the living forces, each one will have their position – but – we must work for the generation of quality employment, we have to hold discussions,” he stated.

He closed by highlighting in this sense that in the current political scenario he sees leaders working on this, “I see interested actors such as the Governor or the Mayor of Comodoro, there are political actors who are concerned about this situation and what will become of Chubut,” ended.
