Cauca combats: 4 soldiers have already been killed; bad weather prevents transfer of bodies

Soldier Jairo Urrego became the fourth victim left by the intense fighting that has now lasted more than 72 hours between the Army and the Carlos Patiño structure of the dissidents in the rural area of Argelia, Cauca.

Urrego was one of the soldiers who had been injured and, despite the attention of his fellow nurses, it was not possible to save his life. Professional soldiers Jorge David Fuentes, Javier Sosa Ballesteros and Camilo Andrés Molina were also murdered in these events. Two more soldiers remain injured.

One of the aggravating factors, in addition to the threats from illegals, is that during the day The helicopters have tried to land on several occasions but the bad weather conditions do not allow it, This has delayed the transfer of the deceased and injured.

The heavy fighting, in which it is estimated that more than 150 members of the dissidents have participated, have taken place in the villages of San Juan del Cucho, San Juan de Guadua and Bolivia. There the troops intended to begin the process to guarantee the return of more than 400 displaced farmers, but they were attacked by illegal groups.

In the midst of the fighting, Three alleged dissidents were also killed and five others captured with weapons and administration material.

It is worth remembering that since last Friday, The troops have had to face simultaneous attacks from different points, a situation that was even recorded in audio recordings of the soldiers’ communications on the ground.
