They criticized former President Donald Trump’s inclusion of Cuba on that arbitrary and unilateral list of State Sponsors of Terrorism in January 2021 and urged Biden, once again, to revoke it.

During his electoral campaign, the current president of the United States promised to review some of the coercive measures adopted by Trump (2017-2021) against Havana, a promise unfulfilled to date.

On the occasion, Roberto Payano, coordinator of the Campaign, recalled the victory of the Cuban people in Playa Girón, on April 19, 1961, considered one of the most glorious events in the history of that country, which meant the first great defeat of Yankee imperialism in Latin America.

In the commemoration of the Victory of Playa Girón, on April 19, 1965, the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, expressed that “… April 19 marked the day in which the plans drawn up by the wise generals of the Pentagon, through the lights of the Central Intelligence Agency, collapsed resoundingly, and they collapsed in a matter of hours.”

And, just 72 hours after the vile aggression, the militiamen, tankers, pilots, artillerymen and Cuban people, under the leadership of Fidel Castro, won the battle against the mercenaries protected by the US government.

Payano also recalled Fidel’s historic speech on May 1, 1965 in the Plaza de la Revolución, on the occasion of International Workers’ Day.

He thanked the gesture of solidarity of the revolutionary leader, who in front of several thousand compatriots began his speech and dedicated a large part of it to condemning the United States military invasion of the Dominican Republic and narrating what was happening “in the sister land of Santo Domingo.” .

While we celebrate this new commemoration of International Workers’ Day in our country, one of the most heroic and beautiful pages of that town is being written in Santo Domingo, one of the most vandalistic, criminal and embarrassing actions of this century, Fidel expressed.

The Dominican friends of that Caribbean nation and Cuban residents were accompanied this Saturday by flags of Cuba and their country, and posters that read “Cuba is not alone,” “No more inhuman blockade by the United States.”

The stop in the same Coronel Caamaño square – in honor of the people of Quisqueya to the memory of the Dominican soldier and hero (1932-1973) – was also in solidarity with the people of Palestine and with all the peoples who fight for their sovereignty.
