With the traditional inaugural parade of the May Pilgrims from the Mayor General Calixto García stadium to the Provincial Museum of La Periquera, the City of Holguín officially once again became the World Capital of Young Art until next May 8.

The opening speech on this occasion was given by Alexis Triana Hernández, honorary president and creator of the Romerías de Mayo, and current president of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic), who invited all the founders present to join and From the balcony of La Periquera they officially started the event.

In the presence of the Directorate of Culture and the highest authorities of the territory, artists, institutions and groups from different expressions of art paraded to inaugurate this festival, including Teatro Tuyo, students from the José María Ochoa Conservatory of Music and the Spanish Ballet of Holguín.

During the first days of the May Pilgrims, the spaces Destrabando la Trova, Shared Words, Quiero una Canción, Electroromerías, la Esquina del Jazz were inaugurated; the Blue Chamber and Babel events; and the Thought Congress and Award for Young Researchers Our Memory 2024.

Since 1994, the Romerías, organized by the Hermanos Saíz Association, turn Holguín into the capital of young Cuban art, and this year, the event is a celebration full of art that unites the community and pays tribute to creativity and culture , dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Icaic and Casa de las Américas.
