Guantánamo, May 5 (RHC) The eighth Peace Seminar and for the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases held in Guantánamo becomes an essential meeting for the call to respect the sovereignty of nations, in the midst of a complex political scenario at the international level. world.

This was recognized by the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province, Yoel Perez García, during his speech at the event, and highlighted that it is a pride to make this province the epicenter of the demands for the elimination of military enclaves and the cessation of wars.

For their part, the delegates debated cyberwar and cyberterrorism, forms used by the US government in its attempts to dominate the world and destabilize countries such as Cuba and Venezuela.

They also shared experiences about the harmful effects on ecosystems, human health and the security of countries caused by the more than 800 military enclaves in the world.

For her part, Sara Román, delegate from Colombia, presented her presentation about the role of youth in resistance and popular unity in the demand for the abolition of foreign military bases and the strengthening of international solidarity for peace.

Based on the criteria of the representatives of the world’s peace organizations, collaborators and solidarity activists from 26 countries, the final declaration of the Seminar will be prepared and will be presented in the Guantanamo municipality of Caimanera, where the illegally imposed US base is located. against the will of the Cuban people and government.

The more than 80 delegates of the Seminar for Peace and the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases will also exchange with the people of that marine town, to learn about their economic and social life despite the existence of the military enclave that occupies part of the bay of Guantanamo.
