Universidad de Chile tied 2-2 with Deportes Iquique at the Ester Roa Rebolledo, in a vibrant match where the “Azules” came back from 2-0 down with a goal from Luciano Pons in the 66th minute of the match. In a press conference after the game, coach Gustavo Álvarez highlighted the growth of the Argentine striker since his arrival to the team.
“They asked me in the first dates about his performance, and according to those questions it was below what was expected. I was talking about an adaptation to a new country, a new league and a new coach. Luciano is showing his characteristics and that does not change, what does change is his performance, with ups and downs.“said the Argentine strategist.
Regarding the striker’s reunion with the goal, he mentioned: “It gives me alternatives, once again I have a nice problem putting together the next eleven, because those who come in do it very well, and that competitiveness for me is the most important thing within the squad. It guarantees growth week by week”he concluded.
Luciano Pons has already played nine games with the Universidad de Chile shirt, scoring three goals and extending his streak of two consecutive games, scoring. The “Azules” will visit Unión La Calera for date 12 of the National Championship next Monday, May 13.
