Tragic Sunday on the roads of Rioja. A one-year-old girl died in an accident that occurred on the N-232 highway in the town of Foncea at 4:10 p.m. The incident occurred as a result of a head-on collision between two vehicles that also caused several injuries. Two vehicles were involved in the tragic accident. Three of the occupants of one of the cars have been seriously injured, and two of the people traveling in the other vehicle are also seriously injured.
Four of those affected have been transferred to the San Pedro de Logroño Hospital, which required the mobilization of the Galeno helicopter, while another has been transferred to Burgos in the life support ambulance that is based in Haro.
The accident occurred at kilometer point 467 of national highway 232, 200 meters from the border of La Rioja with Castilla y León, known as La Cadena. According to reports from the Government Delegation, the crash occurred due to an invasion in the opposite direction at a change in elevation.
The N-232 highway has been completely closed from the time of the accident until around 7:00 p.m. To assist the injured and ensure traffic, firefighters from the CEIS, agents from the Civil Guard, basic life support ambulances from both the Rioja Health Service and Castilla-León, as well as maintenance personnel, have traveled to the scene of the accident. of roads.
This is the seventh person to die in accidents on Rioja roads so far this year. It is also an area that has historically recorded numerous accidents, some of them fatal. In 2005 at kilometer 469 there was also an accident with one person dead, and at 461 one person also died in 2008.
